🧀 Crazy Snacks, Vol. 2: Kraft Made Mac & Cheese Gummies and They Don't Taste Like Mac & Cheese

📅 June 4, 2026  ·  mood: chaotic  ·  filed under: good news

Welcome back to Crazy Snacks, the recurring segment where we celebrate the foods that look at “normal” and say absolutely not. Last time we toured wasabi KitKats and Finnish salty licorice of doom. Today we have something even more unhinged, because it doesn’t just taste weird — it lies to you. 🧀

Behold: the Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Gummy.

A box of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Gummies, styled exactly like the classic blue Kraft mac and cheese box, with 'GUMMIES' printed under the logo
That's the real box. Yes, it says GUMMIES. No, that does not help you.Frankford Candy · via halfnuts.net

It looks like dinner. It is not dinner. 🍝

Picture a plate of warm, orange elbow macaroni. Now picture it made of gummy. That’s the whole product. Kraft licensed their iconic mac & cheese branding to Frankford Candy — the Philadelphia candy company that makes a small empire of novelty licensed sweets — and together they produced a candy so committed to the bit that people genuinely double-take.

The box is a near-perfect replica of the legendary blue Kraft box. Same logo, same cheesy swoop, same comforting blue. The only tell is one small word: GUMMIES. And even that word refuses to tell you the most important thing.

The plot twist: they taste like FRUIT 🟠

Here’s the part that broke our brains. You hold this perfect little orange macaroni replica. Every neuron in your head screams cheese. Salt. Powdered-cheese-packet nostalgia. You bite down, fully braced for savory chaos…

…and it tastes like tropical fruit punch. 🍹

Reviewers have described the flavor as “tangerine-y,” with a vague hint of coconut, landing somewhere in that nebulously synthetic fruit-punch zone that gummies love to live in. There is no cheese. There was never going to be cheese. The orange color comes from Red 40 and Yellow 5, not cheddar. The box told you the truth (gummies!) while perfectly hiding the actual joke (fruit!), and honestly that is elite-level mischief.

“It is an adorably crafted facsimile that cleverly gives no spoilers about what the candies actually taste like.” — basically every reviewer, delighted and betrayed

We checked the receipts 🧾

We are a facts-and-pictures operation, so naturally we read the back of the box. Behold the nutrition panel, which quietly confirms everything:

About 6 servings of 7 pieces, 90 calories a serving, 0 grams of anything resembling macaroni. The ingredient list reads like every other gummy on Earth — which is exactly the point. It’s a fruit snack wearing a very convincing cheese costume.

Why though? 🤔

Why would anyone make a candy that impersonates instant pasta and then refuses to taste like it? And the answer, as always on this blog, is the best possible one: because it’s funny. Because somebody in a meeting said “what if mac & cheese, but gummy” and instead of being escorted from the building, they got a budget. Because the gap between what your eyes expect and what your tongue receives is, scientifically, a tiny rollercoaster. Novelty candy is one of the few industries whose entire job is to manufacture a surprised little laugh, and this one nails it.

You can find it at the source that tipped us off, where, fittingly, it is frequently sold out.

Why this is on a good-news blog

Because somewhere, a snack company looked at one of the most beloved comfort foods in America and thought: what if we made it, but it’s a lie, but a delightful one? Nobody needed mac & cheese gummies. Nobody’s day was incomplete without orange elbow macaroni that tastes like tangerine. We just made them, because the world is more fun when it occasionally pranks your mouth — and because somewhere right now, someone is taste-testing a flavor so cursed it’ll headline Crazy Snacks, Vol. 3. 🧀💛
